When you think of massage therapy, it is very likely you think of a relaxing Swedish massage. During a Swedish massage, your masseuse will use massage oils or lotion to allow for firm but gentle pressure as they ease muscle tension by first using smooth, gliding strokes. The strokes are made in the direction of blood returning to the heart. The purpose of this massage style is to increase oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. As lactic acid, uric acid and other metabolic waste are flushed from the tissue, circulation is increased without putting strain on the heart.

To help stimulate the skin and nervous system, the gliding strokes are often followed by kneading, friction, tapping or percussion. At the same time, nerves are soothed and stress is reduced. Relaxing and invigorating at the same time, Swedish massage provides full-body benefits that will make you feel pampered and renewed.

Deep tissue massage is similar to Swedish/Relaxation massage and uses firmer pressure to help release chronic muscle tension. Rather than just work at the surface, this style of massage focuses on the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. Movements are typically slower and the pressure is stronger. Often chronic muscle pain is caused by adhesions (bands of painful, rigid tissue). These adhesions can cause restricted movement and decreased circulation. Deep tissue massage helps to break down these adhesions.
Whether you are a professional or casual athlete, sports massage can help you to function at your peak. Created to aid in the prevention and healing of injuries to the muscles and tendons, sports massage is custom-tailored to your needs and your activities. The masseuse will focus on a specific area of your body to stimulate circulation and break down knots in muscles.

There are four types of sports massage, pre-event, post-event, rehabilitative, and restorative. Pre-event massage works to loosen muscles and prepare the body for exertion. Post-event massage helps to revitalize tissues, increase blood flow and flush out toxins. Rehabilitative massage is focused on alleviating pain from an injury by relieving knots in the muscles and helping the body to recover. Restorative massage assists during the training process by improving tissue elasticity, breaking down scar tissue an increasing flexibility to get more out of training.

Hot stone massage uses smooth, heated stones to relax muscles, ease tension and increase circulation. The stones are sanitized, heated in water and then used to warm muscles either through placing the stones in key locations on the body or through using the stones in the masseuse’s hand to perform the massage. Various sizes of stones are used to achieve the ideal weight and size for muscle relaxation. The heat of the stones helps muscles to release more quickly and the massage pressure is customized at your request.

This style of massage is perfect for individuals dealing with stress and tension, sore muscles, backaches, poor circulation, arthritis, fibromyalgia, insomnia or depression. The combination of heat and pressure is relaxing, reaching down deep into the muscles without the discomfort that can be associated with a traditional deep tissue massage. If you are prone to feeling chilly or have cold feet, this warm massage will be perfect for you!

Tension or injury specific massage for relief and healing.
Bamboo Massage is an innovative way to provide Swedish or deep tissue massage using heated bamboo to roll and knead the tissue to create an extreme sensation of relaxation and well-being.
Sitting in a massage chair opens up the back muscles, relieves neck strain and gives the eyes a chance to rest. For busy people who sit at a desk or work any other job that leads to a loss of circulation and consequently stiffness, mental fogginess, decreased energy and repetitive motion injuries, chair massage is the relief you have been looking for. Even a session as short as 15 minutes in a massage chair can help to restore circulation, increase energy and keep the body injury-free. It only takes a couple minutes for the brain to recharge itself and the hands of our trained professional practitioners can ease tight muscles and make you feel rejuvenated.

We can come to you at work or at your special event to provide chair massages. Our massage practitioners are available to come to you for a lot less cost than you may think. Treat your employees to a well-deserved break, increasing morale and their health at the same time. Or imagine having us come to your next event to make it even more special and memorable to your guests. A good massage is a great perk!

According to Ayurveda, nourishing your scalp will result in beautiful, healthy hair. While a scalp massage using hot oil nourishes your scalp to promote hair growth and health, it also relaxes the mind and nervous system. The scalp tightens with stress which reduces blood flow and hair growth and massage eases head and neck tension to increase circulation. This results in increased scalp pliability, essential to feeling and looking great.

The oil lubricates the scalp and helps to condition hair, making it softer and more manageable. Additionally, the massage helps strengthen the roots of the hair and hair shafts to strengthen current hair and promote new hair growth. Replenishing and rejuvenating, a hot oil massage will help to replenish damaged hair and prevent further damage by increasing relisiency over time. The result of regular hot oil scalp massages will be more lustrus, vibrant hair and a relaxed scalp that will help you to look and feel your best.

Pregnancy is a time of excitement, but also a time of stress for a woman, both physically and mentally, making it an ideal time to have a massage. Prenatal massage is therapeutic and focused on the special needs of the mother-to-be. As the baby develops, the mother’s center of gravity shifts and puts stress on the back, neck, abdominal muscles and shoulders. Additionally, pregnancy relaxes ligaments in the pelvis which pulls your pelvis forward and changes your posture. Those changes put strain on the back, then the weight of the baby is added to it and the result is a back in need of help.

Prenatal massage is typically done while the mother-to-be is on her side with supporting pillows so as not to add stress to either the mother or the fetus. Benefits include reducing stress hormones and relieving nervous tension which will lead to a better night’s sleep and relief of backaches, stiff necks, headaches, leg cramps, joint pain and edema. This therapeutic massage will also promote circulation, helping to flush toxins and improve immunity, while helping to balance hormones. Additionally, massage in the third trimester can help to prepare the muscles used during childbirth.

Most women will find prenatal massage to be a helpful addition to their normal healthcare during pregnancy and it is safe for most expectant mothers. We recommend talking to your healthcare professional prior to scheduling a prenatal massage to ensure if there are areas of concern. Women with high-risk pregnancies need to consult with their healthcare professional to see what restrictions there are for any form of massage therapy during the pregnancy. If you feel discomfort at any time, let your masseuse know so that you have the most comfortable and relaxing massage possible.

Various techniques are used when massaging an infant and they are chosen to match your infant’s needs. The massage practitioner will use gentle strokes to manipulate the body and ensure that no harm is done. Touch is as important to infants as eating and sleeping and massage provides that positive touch which can also help the infant to relax and release stress, leading to less tension, fussiness and irritability. A relaxed infant is an infant that can sleep well! Massage is also useful for infant digestion and can aid in relieving gas and colic, congestion, and help manage teething pain.

As with adult massage, infant massage increases circulation, relaxes muscles, and releases hormones (including the growth hormone which can lead to healthy infant weight gain). Increased immune function and myelination of nerves are needed for brain and nerve development. Above all, it is a way to help your infant to feel loved and cared for. Our practitioners can help you to learn how to massage your infant yourself as well, to develop a strong parent-child bond.

Geriatric massage is focused on stress relief and relaxation. Regular massage can help to prevent most of the challenges of aging. The techniques used are similar to those used in other massage styles but tailored to the specific needs of the elderly population. Often the sessions are shorter, around 30 minutes in length, with gentle hand motions meant to improve circulation and heart function, relieve muscle tension, prevent diabetic complications and relax the body and mind. If the feet and hands are not inflamed, gentle stroking can help to relieve stiffness and pain. Joint mobility and flexibility and increased with passive movement, gentle stretching, and firmer strokes if desired.

It is advisable to speak with your health care practitioner prior to scheduling an appointment if you have specific health concerns. Your health is our priority and your massage practitioner may speak to your doctor directly to ensure there are no contraindicated conditions for your massage therapy. The benefits of geriatric massage include improved circulation to help prevent ulcers and clots, increased lymphatic flow to flush toxins, less rehabilitation time for injuries or illnesses, headache relief, arthritis pain relief, increased range of motion, improved posture, balance and flexibility, longer and better quality sleep, and feeling more relaxed, less stressed, anxious, depressed or lonely.

Couples massage is a great way to have some special bonding time for a pair, whether they are romantically involved or a couple of friends or a mother/daughter treat. Both people can be massaged in the same room by two massage practitioners at the same time or individually while the other sits and visits. For many people who have never gotten a massage before, this can be a relaxing way to feel comfortable for his/her first visit and may make men feel less apprehensive about the massage process and the touching involved.

In addition to the benefits of the massage itself (relaxation, increased flexibility and circulation, and stress relief), couples massage helps to provide some special time for the two people to create a closer relationship. There often doesn’t seem to be enough time to spend with the people you care most about and a couples massage provides that time in an environment created especially for you.

Our feet and legs take some of the most punishment of any part of our bodies as they carry our weight day in and day out. It is no wonder that they end up feeling stiff and tired from all of the work they do. The result of this daily pressure can be knots in the arch and tense muscles throughout the foot and leg. While our feet are used to walking around in shoes all day, they have a disproportionate number of nerve endings and are sensitive to touch. This is what makes foot massage so pleasurable; not only do your feet feel relief from tension but pleasure from the positive touch of the massage practitioner.

While feet are trapped inside of socks and shoes, circulation can be restricted and massage helps to restore the flow of blood. The foot is also connected neurologically and energetically to the other parts of the body. Reflexology says that any part of the body can be affected by a foot massage. Our leg rejuvenation starts with a detoxifying foot soak followed by an invigorating leg scrub, a relaxing leg mask and is topped off by a heavenly leg massage. The end result will be rejuvenated feet, restored legs and a sense of well being.

The extremities package is perfect for melting away the tension that builds up in the hands, feet, head and neck. Paraffin wax has long been known to aid in healing and ease tension and pain. The paraffin dip for hands will warm them, open pores and relax muscles. The result is softer, more supple skin that has better color and tension is released.

The hot oil scalp massage is focused on easing away the stress in the neck and head. The oils hydrate the scalp, nourishing it to promote beautiful, healthy hair. The massage increases circulation and relieves tension points in the neck and scalp where many people carry their tension. The natural oils of the hair are also distributed through this process to replenish damaged hair and protect the hair from further damage.

The third part of this package is focused on the part of your body that take the most punishment, your feet. From carrying the weight of our bodies to being trapped inside of shoes, it is no wonder that the feet often feel stiff and tired. A massage will increase circulation to the feet, reviving cells and carrying away toxins. Peppermint cools and soothes the feet during the massage, making feet feel refreshed and renewed.

5 minute foot soak with 15 minute foot massage. Perfect for waking up your tired feet and feeling better about life.
Every day your body faces the challenge of stresses and strains. As your body tries to compensate for these, it often distorts the craniosacral system. That can lead to tension forming around the brain and spinal cord and lead to migraines, headaches, chronic neck and back pain as well as other orthopedic conditions. Using an incredibly light touch, our practitioner will evaluate your craniosacral system to find any restriction of movement or fluid. Soft touch then is used to release the tension and facilitate movement of the fluid and tissues again.
